The great 60s experimental film-maker died earlier this month, but word is just hitting the international press today. One early work of his was just called 'Grateful Dead' and featured the boys as both soundtrack and subject matter. Its frenetic editing makes an interesting contrast the seamless, organic flow we normally associate with them. Some great, early footage of Phil and Bobby mugging for the camera around 4:30, over what sounds like a Viola Lee jam:

I have never seen this . Wonder what was on the cutting room floor ?
